Two fabulous courses are combined in one accelerated 7-day format, fulfilling two-thirds of the course work required to earn the ADVANCED CAREER PROFESSIONAL™ designation.
Using the proportional scale and two classic M'FAY® professional drapery workroom patterns, students learn to interpret window treatment sketches and alter various pattern components. Students fabricate Kingston and Empire valances while practicing advanced board mounting techniques which include floating board mounts, pole mounts and medallion mounts. In addition, students document the step-by-step fabrication of hobbled Roman shades and shaped bottom Roman shades, while exploring a variety of lift mechanisms and motorized options. Students leave with one complete valance sample and at least two working shade samples. All materials and supplies (including fabric, patterns and lift mechanisms are provided). This course qualifies students for the SOMFY™ EXPERT certification and students leave with their own motorized shade sample and the skills to motorize any soft shade. Part two of the course (WT401) covers high-end drapery panels, pattern placement and pattern drafting for shaped box-pleat valance designs, arched and bay windows, custom details and hand-sewing. Students complete a shaped box-pleat valance, an arched drapery panel, a bump-interlined panel, an interlined panel with attached valance and other samples using high-end fabrication techniques.
